DEPENDENTS

The Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance (Chapter 35): Educational assistance available to spouses and children of veterans who died or are permanently and totally disabled as the result of a service-related disability.

DEA provides education and training opportunities up to 45 months of education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training. If you are a spouse, you may take a correspondence course. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances.

Spouses of Active duty military members in California, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are able to use Department of Defense and Department of Labor funds. This is a demonstration program that is limited to those states and specific post only. If your military spouse is stationed at a post in one of these states, please contact our military specialist for guidance.
