ICD-10 is a radically upgraded diagnostic and procedural medical coding system that, by law, must be implemented throughout the healthcare industry by October 1, 2013. This new coding system is very different than the version currently in use, and it's important to start preparing for and implementing the massive changes to the existing coding system.
This online program includes:
- A comprehensive overview of the objectives, edits, and changes within the soon-to-be released International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition(ICD-10)
- Training in use of the new ICD-10 diagnostic and procedure codes for insurance billing and reimbursement, including an in-depth review of the ICD-10-CM (diagnoses) and ICD-10-PCS (procedures) coding manuals, guidelines, instructional notes, conventions, and coding steps
- The methodology and a template for planning and implementing ICD-10 in healthcare facilities
- An explanation of requirements for upgrading existing software applications, including claims editors, billing and claims, and electronic data interchange clearinghouses
- Explanations of how to prepare and develop policy and procedure manual changes and meet staff training needs and requirements
Upon registering, you're given an initial six months to complete the program. Should you need more time, you may request a six-month extension at no additional charge.
